Tea will be Declared National Drink of India
Tea, as we say, the drink that really freshens every Indians out there. Be it morning or late night, be it cold winter or hot summer, tea is the most preferred drink. There has been people making teas at the statistics of 2 in 1km area. And here comes the big important news for tea lovers. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, deputy Chairman of Planning Commission has stated that tea will be declared National Drink of India by the end of April 2013.
"The drink would be accorded national drink status by April 17 next year to coincide with the 212th birth anniversary of first Assamese tea planter and Sepoy Mutiny leader Maniram Dewan," Ahluwalia said while addressing the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Assam Tea Planters Association here
He also stated that a "Chai Bar", an international standard tea-room will also be opened at Gauhati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC).
Some quick facts about the tea industry:

- It is largest employer in the organizer sector
- India is largest producer as well as consumer of black tea in the World
- Its plays pivotal role in state's economy
