Satyamev Jayate Episode 2: Child Sexual Abuse
The second episode of Satyamev jayate focused on Child sexual abuse which showed some stunning cases of Cindrella Prakash and Harish Aiyer whose childhoods were completely spoiled due to childhood abuse by the people their families were very close to.
The episode started with small statistics and research work done by the program to show that one in every two children are sexually abused in their childhood days. The statistics showed that 53% of children faced sexually abuse behaviour out of which 47% were girls and 53% were boys. In 50% of the cases, the abusers were known to the child or were in a position of trust and responsibility and most children did not report the matter to anyone.
Then the story started with showing unknown girl who faced sexual abuse from her tuition teacher who use to come to her home and abuse her for many years. Her family trusted teacher blindly and that led to this incident and they were not ready to believe.
Then came in the studio Cindrella Prakash who hails from Mumbai. She was abused by the person who was her family's most trusted person. He abused her to an extent she went into utter shock and was not able to tell her mother who was suffering from kidney diseases.She was abused when she was just 12 years old. Hats off to her who came to this show and told about her incidence.
Later one grueling sexual act and abuse was done on another guest named Harish Aiyer. He was raped continuously for 11 consecutive years by his own uncle close to her mother. His mother didn't believe the act and she didn't support her son. Harish chose to remain alone and in the company of females as he thought every male would harm him. He was 7 when he faced for the first time.
Moreover the small workshop was organized for kids to understand and how to be alert when some one abuses them.
Similar other cases were shown and how their life were ruined by this act. Aamir khan has decided to write a letter to Indian government to pass the bill to protect the child abuse victims and punish the culprits.
