Satyamev Jayate Episode 5 : Love and Honor killing
Satyamev Jayate touched a very sensitive topic of love and honor killing. The episode 5 showed some examples of couples in love and problems faced by them due to such relationship. The most interesting part of the episode was when representative from Love Commandos NGO at the last, shared his views. He was very witty and loved his ideas.
The show started with the couple named Lokendra & Fehmida who ran away from their families who didn't accept their relationship. They got married two years back and they are still living in fear. They haven't received any support from Police as well and Lokendra even had to stay in jail for no crime. His crime was only that he was in love with a girl Fehmida, a Muslim girl and they got married. (Inter-caste marriage). They are not accepted by girl's parents even today and at the end, Aamir Khan himself requested to forget everything and accept their love.
Then, they showed a bad example of being in love and how hatred can cause so much problems. The story of Rizwan and Priyanka in love. They got married secretly and later from the very day, they had to face problems. Rizwan was arrested on false charges and girl's family took home Priyanka giving false promises. Later in less than a month, Rizwan's body was found on railway track and Police reported it as suicide but in deed it was murder (As per the FIR ).
and then they showed the case of Manoj and Babli. This case was also shown on Crime Patrol. They were killed by Babli's relatives for getting married in the same gotra.
Manoj & Babli were killed for marrying within the gotra. Do you think such practices should be stopped?
Moreover, they also had a talk with members of Khap Panchayat, who were speechless to Aamir Khan's questions. (Such similar khap pachayat were responsible for killing of Manoj and Babli). Moreover, they also had a talk with Delhi University Professor who was doing research on similar panchayats across India.
Later a representative from Love Commandos, (it was my favorite), showed a legal proof from Hon.Supreme Court stating that Such inter-caste marriages should be accepted and such marriages help India getting shattered on the grounds of religion. He also told that Parents should accept their children's love relationships if they are truly in love. His message of love was so evidently clear that if followed his ideas, they won't be much hatred on the grounds of religion at least!
This episode was nice and presented love, honor killing and effects of hatredness. SHOW LOVE! SPREAD LOVE! ACCEPT LOVE!
