Satyamev Jayate Episode 1: Female Foeticide

Hello Friends, I am sure most of you must have watched the 1st episode of much awaited show of Aamir. The topic that he chose for his tv debut was female foeticide. According to me this was the issue that needed most attention since this is going on from years. Female foeticide is a very critical crime which involves killing an unborn girl.

Aamir and the whole team of Satyamev Jayate carved out the whole episode very beautifully.

First victim was called from Gujarat who narrated all the incidents that happened to her, and how she was tortured by her husband and in-laws.She also told how even doctors were involved in this horrible crime. In Spite of all the resistance she faced, finally with some courage she managed to give birth to a girl.

The second guest that came described how her husband tortured her which includes biting her to such an extent that her face was distorted. She also described how with much efforts she was able to give birth to her baby girl.

The third guest was surprisingly from a very very well educated family but suffered almost the same as the above two. She narrated how after going through many difficulties she managed to give birth to twin girls but then faced problems with husband and inlaws.

Hence, its not only in rural but also in urban areas that female foeticide takes place. In Fact according to their figures it happens more in urban areas which is all the more shocking. Picture became worse when they said that two journalists who revealed the main culprits of this problem i.e. the doctors, were not punished but instead these two go to Rajasthan courts regularly since it has not been solved yet.

Finally they showed the facts and figures related to this serious issue, where there are very less number of girls as compared to boys. Due to this some problems like human  trafficking also started raising their ugly head.
